Car Emergency Kit

Every car owner should have an emergency kit in his or her car. Whether you're going on a short or long trip, such a kit will come in handy if you're ever involved in an accident or a breakdown.

What should go into this kit? Imagine you're in an isolated spot and your car breaks down or you're in an accident. What would you need?

  • Bottled water (at least a litre)
  • First-aid kit and book
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Torchlight (with a pack of spare batteries)
  • Tools - jumper cables, screwdriver, pliers, scissors, etc
  • Flares, cones or luminous triangles
  • Coolant
  • Umbrella
  • Small pack of tissues
  • Duct tape
  • Matches
  • Compass
  • Maps
  • An extra pair of slippers or shoes
  • Blanket
  • Empty container in case you run out of petrol and have to get some

You may never have to use these items but emergencies can occur anytime, anywhere and you'll be glad you're prepared.
